AR is a technology that superimposes computer-generated images on a user’s real-world environment.
Unlike virtual reality, which creates a totally artificial environment, augmented reality uses the existing environment with real time overlays of new information layered on top. Ideally integrating multiple sensory elements which can include visual, auditory, perceptual, somatosensory (touch) and olfactory (smell) through the use of GPS, object recognition, or gesture recognition.
